Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2026
These terms govern your use of Metadata Erase (the "Service"), available at metadataerase.app. By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
What the Service does
Metadata Erase is a free, browser-based tool that removes or randomizes metadata (such as Exif data) embedded in image files you choose to process. All processing happens locally in your browser; no image files are transmitted to us.
Use at your own discretion
You are responsible for the files you process and for how you use the output. The Service is provided for lawful purposes, such as protecting your personal privacy before sharing photos. You agree not to use the Service to alter or misrepresent metadata for fraudulent, deceptive, or illegal purposes, including in ways that violate the rights of others.
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that metadata removal or randomization will be complete, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose, including legal or regulatory compliance. You should independently verify the output if accuracy is critical to your use case.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Metadata Erase and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including loss of data or loss of privacy resulting from files processed incorrectly or metadata that was not fully removed.
No account, no guarantee of availability
The Service does not require an account and is offered free of charge. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time without notice.
Intellectual property
The Metadata Erase name, branding, and site design are the property of their respective owners. You retain all rights to the images you process; we claim no ownership over your content, which we never receive in the first place.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
