Metadata Erase ("we," "our," "the tool") is a browser-based utility for removing or randomizing metadata in image files. This policy explains what happens to your data — and, just as importantly, what doesn't.
Your images never leave your device
Metadata Erase has no server-side component for image processing. When you select or drop a file into the tool, it is read directly into your browser's memory using standard web APIs (the File API and FileReader). All metadata removal or randomization happens locally, using JavaScript running in your browser tab. At no point is your image data sent to us, to a third party, or to any server. We cannot see, store, or access the photos you process.
What we do collect
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information for security and reliability purposes, such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps for the pages you visit. This is standard web server behavior and is unrelated to the content of any images you process — those never reach a server at all.
Cookies and local storage
Metadata Erase does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Your uploaded files and processing results exist only in your browser's memory for the duration of your visit and are cleared when you close or refresh the tab.
Third-party resources
This page loads fonts and, for the ZIP-download feature, a JavaScript library from a public content delivery network (CDN). Loading these assets may expose your IP address and browser information to that CDN in the same way it would for any website that uses one — this is separate from, and unrelated to, the processing of your images, which never involves these or any other external services.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics (such as page-view counts) to understand how the site is used. Any such analytics are limited to site navigation and do not have access to files you process in the tool.
Children's privacy
Metadata Erase is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age, since the tool does not collect image data at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the tool after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
